Waze app for Windows Phone 8 makes its debut, is a community based navigation app

Another new app has made its appearance in the Windows Phone Store. This time, we get the official Waze app. Waze is a community based mapping, traffic, and navigation app that features over 60 million users.

“Join forces with other drivers nearby to outsmart traffic, save time & gas money, and improve everyone’s daily commute. You can also actively report accidents, hazards, police and other events you see on the road, and get road alerts on your route too. Find the cheapest gas station along your route with community-shared fuel prices,” the app description reads.

Waze lets you meet up and coordinate with friends on the road. The idea behind the app is to contribute to and benefit from the “common good” on the road by helping out your local driving community by reporting events such as road closures and accidents. This way, your friends wont be late to wherever they are headed to.

Waze is a free app that already has over 998,000 reviews on the Android platform and over 140,000 reviews on iOS. Making its debut today on Windows Phone 8, Waze offers Microsoft’s mobile platform a great tool for those who seek the best route during a trip. Here are the key features of this app:

  • Live routing based on community generated, real-time traffic and road info
  • Community contributed road alerts including accidents, hazards, police traps, road closures and more
  • Automatic re-routing as conditions on the road change
  • Learns your frequent destinations, commuting hours and preferred routes
  • Finds the cheapest gas station along your route
  • Notify someone you’re on your way by sending a live ETA and a link showing you as you drive
  • Earn points and move up the ranks in your community as you contribute road info
  • Live maps, constantly edited and updated by Waze community map editors

Hit the download link below to download Waze for Windows Phone 8. Let us know if you like the app.

Thanks for sending this in, Dave!
