The native Video app on Windows Phone has today seen an update that, in addition to bug fixes and stability tweaks, adds a number of new features that improve the overall experience.
Chief among these, in an effort to boost performance, cached thumbnails for videos will now constantly be cleaned up. As such, lag will be markedly reduced for many, a welcome change. Also with the new update comes a change in timing over the release of new movies and videos, Microsoft now has more control. This will allow future releases to correspond a little more closely with the wishes of the app’s users, which will hopefully go some way to improving the overall experience also.
As users continue to make their opinions known on User Voice, so these changes will continue to come. As such, those with bugs to report or features to request are advised to speak up and make their voices heard, for the benefit of everyone.
