Trove free-to-play MMO coming this fall to Xbox One

Celebrating its one-year anniversary this week, Trion announced that Trove is coming to the comfort of our couches. The free to play, voxel based action MMO is coming within the 2016 calendar year for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The predominately cubed multiplayer experience of Trove has commonly accused of being a “Minecraft copy”. Beyond aesthetics, that assumption couldn’t be further from the truth. Trove’s tagline is “The MMO, Cubed.” and the game is exactly that. Trove encourages players to adventure, explore and create across a universe of multiple worlds with a built in class and leveling system similar to many traditional MMOs. There are over twelve classes to choose from. Each one lets the player develop abilities and their own playstyles fit for traveling across all of the universe and fighting against the big baddies that inhabit it. That doesn’t mean that building is put by the wayside. Creativity is a key feature of Trove. Players can visit other’s Club Worlds or expand to a shared world of dungeons, landmarks, lairs, and new realms.

Trove’s massive online community is spending the next couple of weeks in a state of pure chaos. The players are being treated to discounts, free loot, and in-game events that echo Trion’s excitement. According to the studios press release, Trove is just getting started.

While the game is already available for download on PC and Mac, it’s been confirmed in their recent video that a console version will be coming out this year. When will it be available for Xbox One this year? Well, we don’t know that yet. In fact, details such as if it will use the same Glyph account or require a new one still haven’t been answered. Fans are left a bit curious and confused for the moment.
