The top free, paid, and trending Windows Phone apps and games as of August 24th

The Windows Phone Store is home to over 300,000 Windows Phone apps, with new apps coming in on a weekly basis. Let’s take a look at the Windows Phone Store and see which apps are at the top of the charts when it comes to the free, paid, and trending categories. We’ll also highlight some of these apps that have made it to the top of the charts.

As of August 24th, the top-five free apps in the Windows Phone Store are Health & Fitness, OneDrive, Messenger, Battery Saver, and Facebook. The top-five paid apps are ProShot, 8.1 HD Tiles, Metrotube, Sketch Camera, and Status Tiles. The top-five trending apps are Appvn, NFL Fantasy Football, Swarm, ModernMusic, and Papa John’s Pizza.

The top-five free games are Hungry Shark Evolution, Fail Hard, Major Mayhem WP, Subway Surfers, and Ice Age Adventures. The top-five paid games are Cut The Rope Exp, Castle Raid 2, Angry Birds, Plants vs Zombies, and Sonic CD.

  • ProShot ($1.99) – Touted as the world’s most advanced photography app, and the fastest camera on the market.
  • Sketch Camera ($1.49) – See the world as an artist. Take a pictures with amazing pencil sketch effect in realtime or apply it to existing photos from your gallery.
  • NFL Fantasy Football (free) – The official NFL.com Fantasy Football app is your ultimate free fantasy football companion on the go.
  • Swarm (free) – Swarm, the new app from Foursquare, is the fastest way to keep up and meet up with your friends. With Swarm, you can easily see who’s out nearby and who wants to hang out later.
  • ModernMusic (free) – Tired of using Xbox Music? ModernMusic is a fast, lean, and fully featured music player for Windows Phone 8.1.
  • Papa John’s Pizza (free) – Now you can order pizza from Papa John’s with this mobile app for Windows Phone.
  • Hungry Shark Evolution (free) – Experience life as a Shark in the ultimate test of survival with this free app for Windows Phone!
  • Major Mayhem WP (free) – Run and gun your way through gorgeous 3D environments as you embark on a mission to rescue your kidnapped girlfriend from the Forces of Evil.
  • Castle Raid 2 ($1.29) – In this unique tug-of-war you once again fight to defend your castle against the enemy’s hoard.
