The top free, paid, and trending apps in the Windows Phone Store and Windows Store as of June 8th

The Windows Phone Store and Windows Store is home to lots of apps and games. In fact, the Windows Phone Store has over 250,00 apps while the Windows Store is over 165,000 apps. We are going to highlight the top five free, paid, and trending apps and games in both Stores as of June 8th.

Let’s begin with the Windows Phone Store. As of June 8th, the top five free apps are Files, Facebook, Pandora, Messenger, and Instagram Beta. The top five paid apps are Background Designer, Sozoom LITE, Theme+, Metrotube, and WhatsApp Locker. The top five free games are Piano Tiles – Don’t Tap the White Tile, Don’t Tap on The White Tile, Extreme Survival Run, Temple Run 2, and Despicable Me Minion Rush. The top five paid games are Badland, Angry Birds, Cut The Rope Exp, Sonic CD, and Pac-Man CE DX.

In the Windows Store, the top five free apps are Facebook, Skype, Netflix, Google Search, and VLC for Windows 8. The top five paid apps are KVADPhoto+ Pro, Plex, Essential Anatomy 3, uTorrent Connect, and FL Studio Groove. The top five free games are Asphalt 8 Airborne, FIFA 14, Microsoft Solitaire Collection, Flappy Bird, and Despicable Me Minion Rush.

Sozoom LITE

Sozoom LITE ($1.99) – “Add zoom balloon to your photo, drag the balloon and move the zoom point around to highlight certain elements. Add as many balloons as you like, and share them,” the app description reads.

This Windows Phone app is currently in the top paid apps list in the Windows Phone Store. It’s a simple app that allows you to create zoom balloons, complete with a resize bar, magnification adjust bar, zoom position controller and the ability to save and share your creation.

WhatsApp Locker

WhatsApp Locker ($0.99) – “Using this app you are not applying Lock actually to the application but what you are doing is you are putting one password protected barrier before WhatsApp. This App is simple to use. Just UNPIN the original WhatsApp tile and PIN TO START this app and you are ready to go,” the app description reads.

This is a simple app for Windows Phone that places a password protection mechanism to WhatsApp. All you need to do is pin this protection app to your Start Screen. This is the perfect app for those wishing to protect their chats and contacts in WhatsApp.

Extreme Survival Run

Extreme Survival Run (free) – “All must survive the run. Can’t lose one, can’t let one die. Were you pressed to the extreme today yet? This “Extreme Survival Run” will certainly press you to the extreme, and you can’t stop playing throughout the rest of the year. What are you still waiting for? Come start the speedy run together with your matchstick-man,” the app description reads.

This is a fantastic Windows Phone game that tests your hand and eye coordination. You must run as far as possible while avoiding the obstacles. There can be up to five matchstick men that much survive the obstacles, can you handle it? 

Badland

Badland ($3.99) – “Fly and survive through the award-winning action adventure BADLAND. More than 15 MILLION players and counting,” the app description reads.

This is a fantastic and amazing looking side-scrolling action game for Windows Phone that requires you to work your way through the amazing scenery and get your avatar to the end. Gameplay is easy as it requires you to tap the screen to make the avatar fly and take your finger off to make him fall. Avoid obstacles and don’t let the edge of the screen catch up to you!

KVADPhoto+ PRO

KVADPhoto+ PRO ($3.99) – This Windows Store app is utilized by both amateur and professional photographers who seek simple, but powerful image processing on-the-go. Users can turn their devices into a fantastic photo editing studio that allows them to mix operations, clips and effects. Here are the key features of this app:

  • Base photo operations: brightness, contrast, RGB color adjustment, hue and saturation
  • Transform operations: resize, rotate, flip and crop
  • 133 wonderful and amazing filters and effects, + two additional ‘Special Effects’ pack
  • Apply digital frames to your photos. Install additional packs ‘Holidays Frames’ and ‘Christmas Frames’.
  • Action Sets: you can save your actions and apply it to other photos
  • Save and Share the result photo as Small, Normal, Large or Original
  • Supported output formats: JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF.
  • Quality and DPI settings
  • Sketch
  • Magic Tools: blur, sharpen, auto-levels and area auto-levels
  • Picframes helps you combine multiple photos into amazing looking frames with 53 templates.

uTorrent Connect

uTorrent Connect ($2.49) – “Manage your uTorrent queue from any Windows 8 device. Check out your downloads or snag that next episode without going to your desktop or server. uTorrent Connect is a management client for uTorrent, a popular P2P BitTorrent client. After enabling the Web UI feature in the uTorrent preferences, uTorrent Connect enables you to connect to and manage your uTorrent queue from any Windows 8 device,” the app description reads.

This app for Windows 8 opens .torrent files and catches .torrent and magnet URIs from Internet Explorer. This app has received quite a few update since its debut and is currently one of the top paid apps in the Windows Store.

FL Studio Groove

FL Studio Groove ($9.99) – This app for Windows 8 allows you to create professional sounding music in just minutes. Or perhaps you just want to lay down a percussion track and play keyboards over the top, you can do that too. Here are the key features of this app:

  • Make music, play keyboards and drums, add effects and edit musical sequences.
  • Perform music with touch instruments

This app features an extensive library of bass, keys, lead, pad, sfx and synth sounds. There is also a two-tier touch keyboard, perfect for playing chords and melodies. This is truly an amazing app for those looking to create music. You can take a look at two videos below showcasing the app in action.
