Last year, Microsoft launched a new Git Hub integration with its Teams collaboration platform to make it easier for developers to collaborate on projects. The company yesterday announced a bunch of new features and improvements that have made their way to the GitHub app for Teams.
First up, Microsoft has introduced a new personal app experience that enables users to follow their repositories and get notifications for commits, issues, and pull requests directly within Teams. In addition, the app has added the ability to schedule reminders for pending pull requests, allowing users to configure periodic reminders in their Teams chats and channels.
The GitHub app has introduced support for threading to synchronize comments between Microsoft Teams and GitHub repositories. This means that the pull request card will keep users informed about the latest comments and contextual information. The threading feature should help to improve collaboration between team members within channels.
Furthermore, the notification card in the channel has new actionable buttons. As the name suggests, these buttons make it easier for users to take action on activities. GitHub developers can use the GitHub app to create new issues, close/reopen them, and leave comments on pull requests and issues.
Finally, Microsoft noted that it is now possible to subscribe to a specific organization and repository via GitHub app, so users can get customized notifications for pull requests and issues. There is also an option to unsubscribe from these repositories if needed.
