Telegram Messenger updated, drops the Beta tag

There’s no shortage of instant messaging apps in the Windows Phone store. Telegram Messenger is one of them and it has received an update. With the latest update, the app has drops “beta” tag and receives a number of new enhancements and features to improve the overall user experience. The update has been spotted around the web but in some regions has not arrived yet.

Telegram has some nice features that differentiate it from other messaging apps. It allows group chats of up to two hundred people, video sharing for files up to 1GB and has messages stored in the cloud which enables access from multiple devices. They advertise their speed and security as key features of the app. They also have “Secret Chats” which use end-to-end encryption to ensure privacy.

The latest update bring a new shared links section in the chat information window allowing you to view them from a single location, as well as improved search mechanism for messages.

  • Unread badges in recent search results
  • Get new messages in the background
  • Messages marked as read when offline
  • Improved search for messages
