ESPN X Games and Xbox have announced eight of the top e-sport teams from around the world that will be heading to the Halo 5 Guardians tournament in X Games Aspen Invitational.
Occurring at The Gaming Shack located in the X Games Aspen festival villages, the event will run from January 28-31. Competing teams will include: Epsilon eSports from the UK, PENTA Sports from Germany, and Team Allegiance, CLG, Evil Geniuses, Leftovers, Dream Team, and Team Liquid from North America. These teams together will compete in a group play event that culminates in a single-player elimination bracket style tournament. Prizes ultimately include medals and $30,000 in prize money.
While these competing teams will be participating in the Halo World Championship, the X Games Aspen Invitational will not contribute points or change placements for the regional finals.
For the first time ever, however, segments and highlights from the competition will be integrated into the X Games Aspen telecasts on ESPN.
General admission to the action sports competitions and festival villages is free to the public. And, for those who cannot make it in person, the event will be streamed on WatchESPN, Twitch.tv/Halo, and mlg.tv/halo. More information and full event schedules are available at XGames.com/tickets.
