“The next version of our operating system, Windows 8, will be generally available on October 26, 2012. At that time, we will begin selling the Surface, a series of Microsoft-designed and manufactured hardware devices,” the report reads. As for pricing, Microsoft has yet to officially announce what the price for the Surface tablets will be. “Suggested retail pricing will be announced closer to availability and is expected to be competitive with a comparable ARM tablet or Intel Ultrabook-class PC,” Microsoft has stated. Since comparable ARM-based tablets start at $500 and go up to $900, we are guesstimating that the price range will be somewhere in-between that. We will all know soon enough when Microsoft makes the official pricing announcement.
