Back in 2005, a young entrepreneur named Yen Hoang co-founded UYL Color Supply with her father and brother to find some creative answers to the lack of service in the automotive paint supply industry. After 11 years, the Houston-based company, which provides vehicle and light industrial refinish support services, recently ranked 27th on the Fortune 100 list of fastest- growing inner city companies. Hoang, a Surface Pro fan who uses the hybrid tablet both at work and at home, was profiled last week on Microsoft’s Devices blog.

As her company recently opened four retail stores in the Houston area, the 2-in-1 device allows the CEO to be productive on the go. She explained:

As the CEO of a fast-growing small business, I need to remain flexible and have the ability to make quick decisions to capitalize on emerging opportunities. Surface helps me do just that.

Hoang, who discovered the hybrid tablet through her husband, added that the 12-inch form factor is also perfectly sized to her needs:

I’m a small person so I don’t want a big hunker. Surface is super easy whether I am traveling or running around the office.

Microsoft, who recently promoted the Surface Pro 4 for SMBs in a series of videos and unveiled new Surface as a service leasing plans, appears to be pleased by the success of its 2-in-1 devices among businesses. “We’re proud that entrepreneurs like Yen are running such successful businesses on Surface” explained Sohana Punithakumar, Surface Product Marketing Manager at Microsoft.
