Microsoft has started rolling out a new firmware update for the Surface Duo. The latest firmware version brings this month’s Android security patches for the dual-screened device. (via Windows Central).

The August 2021 update weighs in at around 40.22 MB, and it comes with firmware version 2021.721.41 in North America, and 2021.721.43 in Europe. Additionally, the AT&T version of this update is also available for the locked Surface Duo devices.

It is important to note that the dual-screen device is still running Android 10, and this release does not bring the much-awaited Android 11 update for Surface Duo users. The last year’s Android 11 update was reportedly planned for summer this year, but it is still nowhere to be seen on the Duo.

Microsoft is also rumored to be working on the Surface Duo 2, which will reportedly come with a triple-camera system. The Redmond giant has yet to officially announced the Surface Duo 2, but it is expected to launch sometime in September or October of this year.
