Way back in December of 2015, Minecraft made its first appearance on Nintendo’s Wii U Console through the Nintendo E-Shop. Today, Nintendo has brought some new love to the now Microsoft-owned title and is announcing a free update which will deliver Super Mario themed content to the Wii-U version of the game.
As reported by Polygon, the update will launch on May 17th, and will bring a new Super Mario-themed pre-made world to the game. The update will also bring 15 pieces of super Mario music, 40 new skins for classic Nintendo characters and a new set of item textures. While the update will be free for the Nintendo E-Shop version of Minecraft: Wii U Edition, it also will be included for free on the disc based version of the title which will launch on June 17 for $29.99.
Nintendo or Mojang did not mention if this content will also come to other systems. However, if you’re one of the folks who own a Wii U, you can check out the $29.99 download only version of Minecraft Wii U Edition by clicking here.
