Sunset Overdrive for Xbox One launches later this year, gameplay revealed in new teaser video

Sunset Overdrive is set to be one of the next big games to hit the Xbox One platform later this year. In an official blog post, Microsoft is offering a first-look video on the next generation game, which has been hyped by the company ever since the console was launched back in November of 2013.

“The fictional world of Sunset City might seem like a nice place to grab a drink with friends, but it most certainly is not. In fact, as home to the world’s largest beverage producer, Fizzco, it’s the epicenter of the apocalypse. The disaster begins when a bad batch of the company’s energy drink, Overcharge Delirium XG, infects those attending a party to celebrate its launch. It turns them into zombie mutants of various shapes and sizes, which leaves you with two jobs: killing zombies, and having plenty of fun doing it,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.

The game looks fantastic. There are various characters, enemies, and weapons you can use. My favorite weapon is the TN-Teddy, which straps teddy bears to sticks of dynamite! How cool is that? Sunset Overdrive borrows elements from games like Prince of Persia, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Jet Set Radio, and other games to create the “awesomepocalypse.”

The game is fast paced and allows you to customize your character from a plethora of body parts and clothing items. You can even craft weapons and tools using the Amps system, with recipes scattered throughout the city. You can run, grind, zip-line, wall-run, and bounce off the hoods of cars at pretty much all times, using the environment to your advantage. This is going to be one heck of a cool game, to say the least.

Take a look at the first-look video below.
