Street Fighter V is not coming to Xbox, confirms Capcom

Last December, Capcom introduced the latest entrant to its extremely popular fighting game franchise, Street Fighter V. The game launched as PlayStation exclusive leaving Xbox owners out in the cold. There were some speculations that it may be a timed exclusive and may come to Microsoft’s gaming console when the time expires, but it seems that’s not happening at all, at least for Street Fighter V.

A Capcom representative confirmed (via Gamespot) that Street Fighter V is not coming to Xbox One in any form. He said in a statement,

“One comment we see a lot is that something like a Super Street Fighter 5 is going to come out on Xbox. But the reality is that this is a real partnership. We are console exclusive for this franchise for this numbered run. We’re not talking about how we’re handling post-launch content, but I can say the relationship with Sony does open doors for things we haven’t been able to do in the past.”

At the time of launch, Xbox’s head Phil Spencer also commented on the exclusive deal between Capcom and Sony. He said, “Business deals happen. We won’t do all of them. When we have a first party franchise in a genre I’d rather invest in ours.”

There you go Street Fighter fans, let’s just hope that Capcom will make the next iteration of the game, that is, Street Fighter 6 for Xbox as well.
