The Starfield release date has at last been announced. We thought we would have to wait until the upcoming special Starfield showcase event (which itself was also given a broadcast date of June 11th) Bethesda has been promising since January’s Xbox Developer_Direct to find out when we’ll finally get our hands on the game. Instead, Xbox and Bethesda have revealed the launch date ahead of the showcase and, well…it’s a bit later than many of you were probably hoping for.

While the bulk of the speculation hinted at a May or June Starfield release date, the game will be coming out on September 6. This obviously misses the first-half target most were expecting. While it may be a bit disappointing, at least Xbox gamers will have Redfall to keep them occupied beginning May 2.

Starfield promises to be an open-world roleplaying sci-fi adventure like no other. And while the wait for it has been grueling, it is most likely soon to be over. Here’s hoping it will be well worth it (and don’t forget about the Starfield Direct on June 11).
