Starfield has already reached one million concurrent players across all platforms. The game has achieved this impressive feat only one day after its full release.

But given the sheer magnitude of the hype and anticipation that surrounded Bethesda’s AAA space RPG, it’s popularity is really no surprise.

Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer took to X (Twitter) to thank all those who have played Starfield so far, while congratulating Bethesda Game Studios on the landmark release.

As seen in our Starfield review roundup, the game was met with a decidedly positive critical reception. Starfield will no doubt be a stout game of the year contender, and some are even calling it the “game of the generation.”

Whether the open world(s) action-RPG will live up to that designation only time will tell. But given the sheer scope of Starfield, it is safe to say that people will be playing it for years to come like other Bethesda RPGs of the past (case in point: Skyrim).

Starfield is now available for Windows and Xbox Series X|S, and can be accessed with Xbox Game Pass.
