The upcoming Space Jam: A New Legacy movie that will be released on July 16 will also get its own free-to-play game on Xbox consoles next month, Microsoft announced today. Space Jam: A New Legacy – The Game is an arcade style game that will be free to grab for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate starting July 1, and it will become free-to-play for all Xbox gamers on July 15.

“The game is inspired by the upcoming live action/animated feature film with deep reverence for the lively characters in Space Jam: A New Legacy and appreciation of the Tune Squad’s pop culture influence, all while reminiscent of classic arcade games of the 1990s,” explained Sarah Bond, CVP, Game Creator Experience & Ecosystem at Xbox.

Space Jam: A New Legacy – The Game will feature NBA star Lebron James as well as Looney Tunes characters Bugs Bunny and Lola Bunny as playable characters. Overall the beat em’ all game looks like a fun companion piece to the movie that is a standalone sequel to the original Space Jam movie from 1996 starring NBA legend Michael Jordan.

To celebrate the upcoming movie and video game, Microsoft has also created three exclusive Xbox Wireless Controllers inspired by “Space Jam: A New Legacy.” The limited edition controllers will be available starting July 8 at the Microsoft Store, Amazon, and other third-party retailers in North America, APAC, LATAM, and EMEA.
