As if the battery issues that have been reportedly plaguing a handful of Surface Pro 5 and 6 devices weren’t enough, now it seems other devices are affected by similar issues as well. Multiple users online seem to be having similar issues as well, with one user saying that his Surface Laptop 2 depletes from a full charge after just two hours (via Windows Latest).
A couple users on the Microsoft Answers community also noted they would lose about 25 percent of their battery life after leaving their fully charged devices turned off overnight. Another user on Twitter tweeted about a similar issue, saying he lost twenty percent of his battery capacity in less than twenty minutes with the device shutdown.
@MicrosoftHelps Very odd behaviour from my Surface Laptop 2 lately. As much as 28% battery loss overnight while completely shutdown. Over 20% decline while shutdown for 19 minutes?! What's going on?? pic.twitter.com/WdqsjUIgOl

Similar issues are also reported to be on older Surface Pro 4 models as well, with one users saying that he or she “used to get 4-5 hours per charge, now I am lucky to get 1 or 2. Everything was fine before the latest round of August Windows+firmware updates.”
Many of the reports gathered from Windows Latest seem to all be relatively new, which potentially does suggest an issue with a recent patch. A Microsoft Support representative acknowledged that the company is indeed aware of the issues and is currently investigating, so hopefully it shouldn’t be long before a solution arrives.
Thank you for your feedback and the great information. We understand the concern and are currently investigating the issue. Please continue to check for Surface and Windows Updates to make sure that your device has the most current firmware and software available. -Gemzon
