Skype’s redesigned app is now available in preview on Android tablets

Skype’s redesigned app, which has been available on Android phones since last year now has an optimized tablet layout. The new tablet app is now available in preview, and it follows the recent release of a new Skype for iPad client (which is also still still in preview).

The redesigned Skype app for Android tablets looks similar to Skype’s new app for Windows, macOS, and Linux, and it brings a new dark theme option, reactions to messages, Skype add-ins and more. However, the Skype team mentioned in the release notes that this current version won’t let you answer call from the lock screen, and hopefully this will be fixed in the next beta release.

You can download the Skype Preview app on your Android tablet app by using this link. It’s still not clear when the new design will roll out to all tablet users, but in the meantime the team is welcoming feedback on the Skype Community website.
