Skype for Windows Phone has picked up an update, bumping it to version 2.19, which introduces several new features for the app. The most notable one is for those running Windows Phone 8.1 as their operating system. The latest version of Skype comes with Cortana integration, giving users the ability to make audio and video Skype calls by simply asking Cortana.

“Now you can start Skype video and audio calls by simply asking Cortana something like “Skype get Lara Kingwell on the screen”. Cortana is currently available in the US on Windows Phone 8.1,” says Skype in an official blog post.

In addition, Skype also introduces support for Action Center to display notifications. This means that Skype messages and call notifications will now pop up in the action center alongside other notifications. It’s not just the notifications, users also get to edit their last sent message to any contact from within the app.

The new update also brings support for more languages — it now supports 51 different languages. Previously, it came with support for only 19 languages, so it’s a pretty huge bump.

Head over to the Windows Phone Store to grab the update, and in the meantime, don’t forget to watch the video below that demonstrates how Cortana integration works.
