The official Skype for Linux app, which is currently in beta, has updated to Version 5.4, fixing several unnamed bugs and added some new features such as Group video calling. Here’s the full release notes:
- Enabled the Group video calling
- Updated to Electron 1.7.4 for performance and security improvements
- Fixed the Skype Update repository keys
- Bugfixes and improvements
Skype for Linux has yet to update to the newly redesigned look seen in other versions of the app but Linux users are encouraged to update to the latest version as support for previous iterations of the app have now ceased all functionality. In short, if you find you Skype for Linux app isn’t working properly, a simple update may fix the problem. Skype for Linux can be downloaded here.
