The Microsoft Office team has released a preview of the new Skype for Business App SDK. With this SDK, developers can integrate Skype for Business’s instant messaging, audio, and video calling into their custom iOS and Android applications.
Microsoft demonstrated this capability at Build 2016 when they introduced a medical firm called MDLIVE. They were able to integrate Skype of Business into their custom app for providing remote healthcare sessions via video conferencing. And by using Skype for Business and Office 365, the security of their telehealth app was HIPAA compliant.
Now any company with either an existing Skype for Business Server or Skype for Business Online infrastructure can use this new SDK to deploy Skype for Business’s capabilities in their own iOS or Android app. To build Skype for Business integration within your own iOS or Android app you can download the preview of the Skype for Business App SDK here.
