Skype app update for Windows Phone 8 receives better launch time, copy/paste in messages

Microsoft has rolled out a new update to the Skype app for Windows Phone 8, bumping the version number to 2.13. In this update, the Skype app receives some new features along with the app now being available for users in China.

“As we continue the journey on Skype’s Mobile Future, we’ve focused this release of Skype for Windows Phone on getting you into the conversations you care about faster. In 2.13 we’ve made a significant improvement to the time it takes for the app and your recent conversations to load when you start up Skype from the tile,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.

Aside from a faster launch time, the update also brings along the ability to copy and paste during instant messaging conversations. You can now press and hold an IM message, select copy and paste it to where you need it.

Microsoft has added improved accessibility by adding a high contrast mode in Skype – so if you use high contrast mode in Windows Phone, the app will automatically feature the mode as well.

Skype for Windows Phone is now available in China, thanks to Microsoft’s “strategic partnership” in the region with Guangming Founder.
