Skype

The official Facebook and Skype apps are not as good as the ones on other mobile platforms. The truth is, iOS and Android apps for these services are far better than the ones on Windows Phone. As you all know, Joe Belfiore is holding an AMA on Reddit, which is currently underway, and this was one of the concerns that were brought up. The good news is that a new version of Skype is under development, and is being used by the development team to knock out bugs and issues, before it’s publicly released.

As for Facebook, Belfiore said the company is working with Facebook on an update which will bring quite a few new improvements to the app. The company aims to deliver the update by June, so let’s hope they can stick to the plan.

“You mentioned Skype and FB — on Skype, we have new version in development that our team (and me) have been using and it certainly helps with perf[performance]– we’ll keep going– and on Facebook, we’ve been working with FB on an update to that app too, targeted for the June timeframe – this update brings improvements to perf[performance], having full-width photos in the newsfeed, and seeing photos and comments at the same time,” Joe said in an answer.

We’re waiting for the update to go live, and it would be great if it brings it on par with apps on other platforms. Excited? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
