The Simpsons to invade Minecraft on Xbox this February, new DLC skin pack for your crafting pleasureWhat could be better than Minecraft? Bringing some of the residents of Springfield to everyone’s favorite cubic building game, of course! Scheduled for release next month, the official Simpsons skin pack will be available for crafters on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Microsoft has just announced that they will be launching The Simpsons content packs for both Minecraft: Xbox 360 and Minecraft: Xbox One editions. Included in the lineup of characters is the notable Simpsons family – Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. In addition, 19 members of Springfield Elementary School will be joining the fun.

Phil Spencer, head of Xbox at Microsoft, commented on the upcoming DLC:

“We have an active community of more than 14 million die-hard Minecraft fans on Xbox Live enjoying the wide range of downloadable content on Xbox, and they have been clamoring for us to bring Simpsons characters to the game. We are thrilled to partner with Twentieth Century Fox and Gracie Films to bring THE SIMPSONS to life on Minecraft Xbox 360 and Xbox One editions.  I can’t wait to see what the community creates.”

Minecraft has amassed over 100 million downloads since the game first launched in 2009. Those of you excited for the new skin pack can grab it in February for $1.99. Microsoft notes to stay tuned for “more information on THE SIMPSONS downloadable content pack on other platforms”.
