Not too long ago, Sharp entered the tablet market with its Meibus Pad featuring a 10.1-inch display with 2560×1600 resolution, along with an impressive set of specifications. With all the gadgets getting bigger, Sharp also unveiled a new tablet with model number RW-16G1, which doesn’t only come with a massive 15.6-inch display, but also a set of monstrous specifications on board as well. Manufacturers are kicking things off with big gadgets. If you followed the Consumers Electronics Show last week, you should have known that Samsung has already entered the big tablet market with its 12.2-inch Galaxy NotePro and TabPro tablets, while Apple is also rumored to be working on a 12.9-inch iPad. Anyway, let’s just skip to it and see the kingly specifications offered by Sharp.
The oversized tablet rocks a massive 15.6-inch IGZO display with 10-point multi-touch display and sports a resolution of 3200 x 1600 pixels and a 235 ppi pixel density. Under the hood, it comes with a Intel Core i5-4200U chipset with 4GB of RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4400 and 128GB SSD. The RW-16G1 tablet comes with a Lithium-ion polymer battery 44Wh which is capable of delivering an impressive nine hours of battery life, despite its gigantic display. On the software side, it runs Windows 8.1 Pro pre-installed out of the box. On the connectivity side, it comes with WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, a Mini DisplayPort, USB 3.0 ports, an SD card slot and an HDMI output.
There’s no word about the pricing of the tablet, although we don’t expect it to carry a modest price tag. The tablet will hit retail in March and It seems its targeted towards business users. Before you get too excited, you should know that it appeared on Sharp’s Japanese website only, and there’s no clue if it will hit other markets around the world or not.
