Rumors abound that a Red Dead Redemption remaster is in the works

One of the biggest gaming-related rumors making the rounds right now is that a Red Dead Redemption remaster is on the way. The source of this “news”: South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC). On its site the committee has fresh listings for both Red Dead Redemption and its 2018 sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2.

GRAC has also been responsible for other game leaks in the past, including that of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign remaster before its official announcement.

However, there seems to be some contention as to whether this new version of the 2010 action-adventure game is indeed a remaster or possibly a full-blown remake of Rockstar’s classic open-world western, at least on Reddit. Some are speculating that it could be the latter—possibly in Red Dead 2‘s engine.

Red dead Redemption will be a remake not a remaster according to previous leaks

Likely fans leaning on each side of the remake/remaster question are hoping that any potential new RDR release will be nothing like 2021’s Grand Theft Auto: Trilogy- The Definitive Edition, which was a decidedly poor remaster of three classic GTA games.

There is also the possibility of a Red Dead Redemption movie at some point in the future, though no official word on it has even been hinted at this point.
