From the rumor mill: HTC working on a 12-inch and 7-inch Windows RT tablet to debut in 2013

According to a new report, HTC is working on a 12-inch and 7-inch Windows RT tablet set to debut in 2013. According to this report, which we are classifying as a rumor until more details emerge, the 7-inch version of the Windows RT tablet will have the ability to make phone calls.

HTC, who didn’t partake in releasing a Windows RT tablet just yet, is planning on releasing two new Windows RT-based tablets in 2013, according to source familiar with HTC’s plans. If this is true, the 7-inch tablet will be the first of its kind for the Windows RT platform, and would be Microsoft’s answer to the iPad mini, Kindle Fire, and Nexus 7. HTC has considered a full-fledged Windows 8 tablet running on an Intel chip, but the company nixxed those plans thinking the device would cost too much and would flop. This comes as rather interesting news since HTC was turned down by Microsoft when it came to being a part of the first set of Windows RT devices to hit the market. More on this as it develops.
