Rumor: Microsoft ramps up development of Windows 10 for phones

Last we heard, Windows 10 for phones was to be due sometime after the release of Windows 10 for PCs; that put a release somewhere between late 2015 and early 2016, but according to a recent rumor, Microsoft has just ramped up development for its next mobile OS.

According to a NokiaPowerUser source, Microsoft has fast-tracked the development of Windows 10 for phones and now has its sights on a late Q2 2015 launch date. Citing the software giants’ “hurry” to push out a preview build to existing customers, the recent cancelation of the GDR2 update and launch of the ‘Phone Insider’ app for Windows Phone may serve as evidence for the new plans.

While we would all be very excited if this turns out to be true, remember that it’s still just an unconfirmed rumor. However, you can add it to our January 21st wish list. Now, pass the salt, please.
