RIM aquires NewBay for a price of $100 million

Reseach in Motion have announced that they have aquired a mobile software based company called NewBay. The purchase went through at $100 million.

RIM, the makers of BlackBerry and the Playbook tablet, have bought NewBay, an Ireland based mobile software company that was formed in 2002. RIM have not commented on the reason they pruchased the company, but they promise to keep all 200 employees at the company.

NewBay allows users to share photo’s, videos and more through cloud based services. RIM may be planning to allow it’s users to do the same on a BlackBerry device.
