Following the publication of the first reviews yesterday, the critically acclaimed third-person shooter Gears of War 4 is finally available to play on Xbox One and Windows 10 today for those of you who pre-ordered the game’s $99.99 Ultimate Edition. Other Gears enthusiasts will have to wait for the worldwide release of the game on Tuesday, October 11th to join the party.
Gears of War 4 is the third Xbox Live Anywhere game to be released after other Microsoft Studios titles ReCore and Forza Horizon 3. As a reminder, this new initiative allow gamers to buy a digital copy of a game and play it on both their Xbox One and Windows 10 PC with shared progress and achievements. For PC gamers, the Windows 10 version of Gears of War 4 will feature an additional bonus as it’s the only version of the game which supports local multiplayer.
In a new blog post on Xbox Wire, the Xbox team emphasizes that multiplayer is definitely one of the game’s main highlights. “Whether you enjoy battling the Swarm in co-op, fending for survival in the new Horde 3.0 mode or testing your skills in frenetic Versus multiplayer matches running in 60 FPS on dedicated servers, Gears of War 4 is the ultimate game to play with friends,” explained the team.
