Plan your getaway with Trip Advisor for Windows 8.1

Regardless if it’s a day trip or a grand tour of the world, planning is everything. It really makes no difference if you are taking a plane, a train or driving; if you need hotel reservations or wish to know about restaurants, you need a reliable travel source. Fortunately the internet is littered with sources — though finding a reliable one remains a bit of a trick. TripAdvisor is among the forefront of the industry, and it now comes to your Windows 8.1 device with a new app.

The service provides reviews written by people who have landed in the destination in question, providing a real-life synopsis of what you can expect. But, if goes much beyond that. TripAdvisor also has photos to depict what you’ll find, as well as the ability to book hotels, find deals on airfare, check out the local cuisine and see about things to do while you are out and about.

“Millions of traveler reviews, photos, maps from TripAdvisor. Plan and have your perfect trip. With over 100 million reviews and opinions by travelers, TripAdvisor makes it easy to find the lowest airfare, best hotels, great restaurants, and fun things to do, wherever you go. And booking options for hotels, restaurants and flights are just a tap away”, reads the store description.

Trip Advisor is free from the Windows Store, and it requires you to be running Windows 8.1. The bad news is, of course, that the travel itself will still set you back a certain amount of money. Add in the Windows 8.1 device you use to make the plans and, well, there is a cost involved. But whoever said the best things in life are free?
