Microsoft CFO Peter Klein

Microsoft’s current Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Peter Klein is set to leave the company in the coming weeks after working eleven years at Microsoft and four years as the CFO at the software giant. Microsoft revealed this change during its earnings release for its third quarter 2013.

\

According to Microsoft, Klein will leave Microsoft at the end of the current fiscal year after being the CFO for nearly four years. Microsoft plans on naming a new CFO from its finance leadership team in the next several weeks.

\

According to CEO Steve Ballmer, Klein has been a key member of the leadership team. “It has been a pleasure to work with Peter as CFO. He’s been a key member of my leadership team and a strategic advisor to me, and I wish him the very best,” Ballmer stated.

\

Klein had nothing negative to say about his departure and even offered to help his successor on the transition. “I’ve had a great experience as CFO and overall in my time at Microsoft. We have an incredibly strong finance organization, and I’m looking forward to working with my successor on the transition through the end of the fiscal year,” Klein stated.
