Outlook.com reaches new milestone, no longer in preview and has over 60 million users

It has been over six months since the “preview” of Outlook.com was released by Microsoft. Now Microsoft is proud to announce that Outlook.com has reached a new milestone and is exiting the “preview” phase. Microsoft also revealed that Outlook.com now has over 60 million users.

“Last summer, we released a preview of Outlook.com, a new modern email service from Microsoft. Since then, we’ve been humbled by the fast pace of adoption with over 60 million people already actively using Outlook.com. During the same period, we’ve received lots of feedback and made many improvements. Today, we’re excited to announce the next step in this journey: Outlook.com is coming out of preview and people everywhere can get started and give it a try at Outlook.com,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.

Microsoft is also planning on launching a large-scare marketing campaign across the globe to showcase Outlook.com. Microsoft will also be upgrading every Hotmail user to Outlook.com, which will be seamless and instant for those who use Hotmail (according to Microsoft anyway). Hotmail users are not required to switch their email address to @outlook.com if they choose not to. Every Hotmail user will be upgraded by this summer.

So what makes Outlook.com so great? According to Microsoft, Outlook.com has the following intentions:

  • Delivering a beautiful, fresh and intuitive experience on modern browsers and devices
  • Keeping people connected to their friends and co-workers across the networks they really use
  • Providing a smart and powerful inbox to handle today’s email needs, including SkyDrive for sharing virtually anything in a single email
  • Putting people in control by prioritizing their privacy

Microsoft launched Outlook.com, basically a modern Hotmail email service with numerous new features, back in July of 2012. Visit Outlook.com to check it out. Also take a look at some of the new Outlook.com advertisements below:
