Office Remote app for Windows Phone 8 gets new PowerPoint features in latest update

Office Remote, for those that did not know, is a free app that allows you to seamlessly interact with Office 2013 or Office 365 on your PC and allows your Windows Phone device to act as a smart remote. Microsoft has rolled out a new update to the app, adding new PowerPoint features.

“Office Remote turns your phone into a smart remote that interacts with Microsoft Office on your PC. The app lets you control Word, Excel, and PowerPoint from across the room, so you can walk around freely during presentations,” the app description reads.

The app was bumped to version 1.1.3.0 and adds the following improvements for PowerPoint: View current slide and laser point on it without changing phone orientation, next slide preview, and play/pause embedded audio and video files.

“With Office Remote, you can start your PowerPoint presentation, advance the slides, see your speaker notes, and control an on-screen laser pointer with a touch of your finger – all from your phone. You can also navigate between Excel worksheets and graphs, and control data slicers from the palm of your hand. And you can scroll through a Word document or quickly jump to specific sections or comments,” Microsoft explains.

In order for this app to work, you need Office 2013 (Office 2013 RT or earlier is not compatible), a Bluetooth connection on your PC, and a desktop add-in for Office Remote on your PC. Hit the download link below to snag the app.
