Office Mix gives educators LTI support and integration with major LMS providers

With Office Mix comes new support for the Learning Tool Interoperability (LTI). Microsoft has joined in the contribution of the IMS Global Learning Consortium to represent the needs of the users as they participate in future standards development work.

Office Mix is an add-in for PowerPoint than enables authors to easily share interactive online lessons. Educators can add narration in audio and video formats easily, as well as real-time drawing, screen recordings, quizzes and more all within PowerPoint. PowerPoint lessons can be viewed virtually anywhere from just about any device or browser.

Through support of LTI, we have made it easy for educators to embed mixes into all major Learning Management Systems (LMSs), including Canvas, Engrade, Blackboard, Haiku, Moodle, Brightspace, EDUonGo and Schoology. Additionally, the LTI adoption enables McGraw-Hill Education (MHE) to utilize Office Mix to provide a custom teaching experience for adopters of the next generation of MHE products. Cengage Learning will be releasing an Introductory Computing MindTap pilot integrating Office Mix for fall 2015 classes.

After setting up Office Mix to work with an LMS, educators can embed interactive mixes within their LMS assignments, whether they are created by themselves or the community. If you’d like to integrate Office Mix with an LMS, you can follow the steps in the EduAppCenter or simply visit mix.office.com/LTI to learn how to set up Office Mix within the specific LMSs.
