Office Insiders on the Slow ring welcome Collaborative Editing in Excel

Users on the Office Insider Slow ring have just received several new features for their Microsoft Office apps with Build 17.8067. With this new build of the Office apps on Windows Mobile, Insiders will now be able to insert links to files and websites in Excel, Word, and Powerpoint as well as collaborate on files in Excel. Excel has also been given added support for files that contain ink.

The Office apps on Android have also updated to Build 16.0.8027.1002 with the same updates as Windows Mobile.

Collaborative Editing essentially allows for more than one user to work on a single document at the same time with all changes being synced through the cloud. “You and your colleagues can open and work on the same Excel workbook,” Microsoft explains. “This is called co-authoring. When you co-author, you can see each other’s changes quickly â€” in a matter of seconds. And with certain versions of Excel, you’ll see other people’s selections in different colors.”
