Nokia suspends Lumia 2520 sales over a faulty charger

\

Nokia has suspended sales of Nokia Lumia 2520 after discovering tablet’s faulty charger which could give electric shock. The company has advised anyone with a Lumia 2520 in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Russia, Switzerland and the UK “to suspend use of the AC-300 charger until further notice.”

\

Released last year, Lumia 2520 is the first and only Windows 8.1 RT tablet the Finnish giant has ever launched. Although the tablet has received flaring reviews from around the world, the charger apparently is faulty. Nokia says that there have been no incidences, but as a precautionary measure it has decided to suspend the sale of the tablet. “While there have been no confirmed consumer incidents related to this potential quality issue, product quality and safety are top priorities at Nokia,” said Jo Harlow, EVP Smart Devices. “We apologize to the owners of the Lumia 2520, and we are working with urgency to minimize the inconvenience.”

\

In an internal assessment, Nokia found that certain AC-300 chargers, which have been manufactured by a third party supplier, under certain conditions are not fit for use. The plastic cover of the charger at times could come loose and separate, leaving some internal components exposed. Nokia has confirmed that all other chargers are fine, and just this particular one should be avoided.
