There’s no denying about the existence of the highly rumored Nokia Lumia 929, aka Lumia Icon. We’ve seen cases for the handset that’s not officially announced by Nokia or Verizon, and it even made a brief appearance on Verizon’s website. Additionally, we’ve seen several leaks from the well-connected @evleaks about the device in the past. If it’s still not enough to convince you about its existence, the handset is now available for sale in China on Taobao, a popular classified website, for 3,800 Yuan (almost equals $630).
According to the report, the handset is being imported from America and works on China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom. Unfortunately, LTE doesn’t work on the handset in China, but it supports 2G on China Mobile, 2G/3G on China Unicom, however, a cracked SIM is required to make it work on China Telecom. The person in possession of the handset also posted detailed hands-on images of the handset as well, confirming its real.
Based on rumors, it’s expected to be a trimmed down version of the Nokia Lumia 1520, and carries a similar set of specifications. The handset is expected to feature a 5-inch display boasting a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset with Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 20MP PureView camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a 2,420 mAh battery. On the software side, it is expected to ship with Windows Phone 8 GDR3 with Lumia Black pre-installed out of the box.
