Nokia Black firmware update for ATT Nokia Lumia 1020 handsets rolling out now

It appears that the Nokia Black firmware update for the Lumia 1020 is rolling out now, for those of you on the ATT network. This update brings forth several new features to your Windows Phone 8 powered handset. On top of that, you are also getting GDR3 (Update 3).

Nokia Black offers the ability to lock your screen rotation, close apps easily, and use custom ringtones for messages, mail, and more. With this update, the Nokia Smart Camera and Nokia Pro Camera are combined into one app called the Nokia Camera. Nokia Black also brings along the latest version of the Nokia Glance Screen, as well as support for Bluetooth 4.0 LE.

Here are the new features that come with this update, version number 3051.40000.134x.00xx:

  • Daily delighters: lock the screen rotation, close apps easily in the app switcher, use custom ringtones for messaging and mail, among other things
  • Update to Nokia Camera that combines Nokia Smart Camera and Nokia Pro Camera. Available from the Store app.
  • Get the latest version of Nokia Glance Screen – see quick status notifications, for example, about calendar and messaging events on the lock screen.
  • Bluetooth 4.0 LE – preserve energy while staying connected via Bluetooth
  • Get enriched camera performance, enhanced battery monitoring, and other stability and usability improvements
