Hello Games has announced that its open-world space exploration/survival game No Man’s Sky is set to release on Nintendo Switch on October 7, 2022. While it was previously reported back in February that the Switch version of the game would arrive in the summer, it is still encouraging new for Switch owners now that an official release date has been announced.
The Switch version will see both digital and physical releases, and on the same date as the Switch launch a physical PS5 edition will release with all the current updates. The game is currently available on most major platforms (other than the Switch, obviously): PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. At the time of this writing, No Man’s Sky is available on Xbox Game Pass.
On No Man’s Sky coming to Switch Sean Murray of Hello Games has said,
No Man’s Sky on this tiny portable device feels both completely natural and also totally improbable at the same time. This has been a real moonshot for our small team. No Man’s Sky is built around procedural generation, which means the console generates everything you see. This makes it so much harder to bring our game to something like the Switch, but I think this team never seems happier than when they are trying to do near-impossible things.
Despite a rough launch back in 2016, No Man’s Sky has evolved through numerous updates to become a highly acclaimed title. And with the Switch version coming, it looks like the sky is the limit for Nintendo fans.
