The next generation Xbox entertainment console, codenamed Durango, is expected to pack a powerhouse! Details have leaked over the past few months regarding the graphics power, as well as the Dev kit being put up on eBay. Now, a new report goes indepth with lots of details regarding the new Xbox (Xbox Next? Xbox 720?).

According to a report by Kotaku, they have the latest details and specs on the new Xbox as of January 2013. “Here’s what we learned from our source, with the understanding that, while what follows is fresh info relevant up through the state of Durango development in January 2013, specs and plans can change. An important note: many of the specs we were made privy to were said to be set not just for development kits but for the final retail consoles as well,” the report claims.

The new Kinect will no longer be an optional accessory, in fact, it will be mandatory. On top of that, every Kinect will ship with a new Xbox console and must be plugged in and calibrated for the Xbox to work. The new version of the Kinect sensor can also track up to six people in the same room, capable of tracking thumbs, seeing if your hand is open or closed, and even reading your facial expression to see if you are angry or excited. The Kinect also features an improved wide viewing angle.

The new Xbox will come with a 500GB hard drive that will be used mostly for games. Games will be installed immediately upon first insertion of the disc and installation can take place automatically, even while you play a game. Game installations will also be mandatory. Games can even be suspended or constrained which allows you to switch to another game, then return to the first game without losing your place.

The new Controller will be a “natural evolution” of the Xbox 360 and feature an identical layout but feature a “new wireless technology.”

What about specs? We are looking at an 8-code, 64bit CPU running at 1.6GHz, 800mhz Direct X 11 graphics card, 8GB of DDR3 memory, 500GB hard drive with read speeds of up to 50 MB/sec, comes with HDMI or S/PDIF (optical) connections, and can support up to 7.1 channels. Hit the source link for the in-depth look at the new Xbox console. Anyone excited over this new powerful console?
