New Windows 10 build and Windows 10 for mobile preview will not arrive at the same time this month

New Windows 10 build and Windows 10 for mobile preview will not arrive at the same time this month

We are all well aware that sometime this month, Microsoft plans to release a new Windows 10 build for desktops. We are also aware that Microsoft plans to release a Windows 10 for mobile preview build, for testing on Windows Phone devices, sometime this month.

The latest Windows 10 build currently available to participants of the Windows Insider Program is 9926. In January, Microsoft promised a faster rollout of new builds so testers can provide valuable feedback — the wait between 9879 and 9926 was a little over two months. It is nearly a month since 9926 was made available.

There was also a rumor floating around the internet and certain no-name sites that Microsoft was going to release the preview build of Windows 10 mobile on February 4th. This has not happened. According to Microsoft’s Gabriel Aul, Windows 10 for phones is indeed expected sometime this month and it will not arrive on the same day as the new Windows 10 build for desktops.

So there you have it. It does make sense for Microsoft to release both builds separately at different times, so testers can focus on each individual build. Which new build are you looking forward to the most? A new Windows 10 build for desktop or Windows 10 for mobile preview?

@minecpptech @RioMadafaka We do expect a new desktop build in Feb, but will do phone solo for this first build so we can 100% focus on it.
