Fans have waited years for any clear sign of a new Uncharted game, and a recent post from a key developer has now sparked fresh discussion about the franchise’s return. Naughty Dog has stayed silent since Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, but this new hint suggests the studio has not moved on from one of PlayStation’s most important series.
The buzz started when Shaun Escayg, who directed The Lost Legacy, shared a “research” photo on Instagram showing a coastal fort with a mounted cannon overlooking a city. The location matches Fort George in Trinidad and Tobago, a historic site that fits the kind of exotic setting the Uncharted series often uses. The image quickly caught attention because it looks like early scouting work for a new project.
Naughty Dog’s second project adds to speculation
Neil Druckmann has already confirmed that Naughty Dog is working on more than one game at the same time.
That detail matters because Escayg returned to the studio in 2021 after working on Marvel’s Avengers, and reports suggest he leads a second unannounced project alongside Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. When you connect that with the research photo, it strengthens the idea that a new Uncharted game is in early development.
At the same time, Sony has kept the brand active through the 2022 Uncharted movie, which shows the company still sees value in the franchise. That makes a comeback feel realistic rather than wishful thinking.
The next question focuses on the main character, since Nathan Drake’s story reached a clear ending in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Many fans prefer to keep that ending intact, so attention shifts to other possible leads.
Some expect Cassie Drake to take over, while others point to Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross from The Lost Legacy as strong options. There is also interest in Sam Drake or even a younger Sully in a prequel setting, which would let the series explore new stories without undoing past arcs.
Right now, Naughty Dog has not confirmed anything, but this small hint has already done its job by putting Uncharted back into the conversation, and fans now wait for a proper announcement that finally answers what comes next.
