New gameplay mechanics coming to Just Cause 3

After Just Cause 3’s announcement in November of last year, news regarding the sequel to the 2010’s Just Cause 2 has slowly begun to trickle out and with just half a year before its December 2015 release on Windows and Xbox One, there’s now a fair bit of video footage from the game and interviews with the developers for fans to glean new information from.

The official Microsoft Xbox blog, Xbox Wire just published a blog post featuring the writer’s hands-on impression from a preview build of Just Cause 3 and while the official nature of the blog ensures that the majority of the post is filled with positive PR-type speak (this is not a critical review of the game by any means), there are some tidbits discussed that are worth mentioning.

The first is the ability for players to grapple three separate points instead of two, with the game’s main item, for improved control. This change makes it so that objects no longer auto-pull together and lets the player customize the tension for a more controlled experience.

This device can be used with the player’s parachute and new wing-suit and can be used for both traversal and destruction. When used with the wing-suit, the flying gear grants temporary, controllable flight which lets the player pause in mid-air and allows the player to better handle combat from the sky.

The Just Cause series is an over-the-top action shooter franchise that should appeal to those familiar with games like GTA. Here’s the official description of Just Cause 3.

Set in the sun-drenched Mediterranean island republic of Medici, a land crumbling under the ruthless rule of General Di Ravello, you take control of series’ hero Rico Rodriguez, a man on a mission to liberate his homeland and the people of Medici…by any means necessary. With over 400 square miles of complete freedom from sky to seabed and a huge arsenal of weaponry, gadgets and vehicles, prepare to unleash chaos in the most creative and explosive ways you can imagine.

Are you excited for Just Cause 3? What improvements would you like to see in the series? Let us know in the comments below.
