New anime-inspired fighting game, BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Extend now out on Xbox One

With Street Fighter V being a PlayStation 4 exclusive and Smash Bros not leaving Nintendo’s platforms anytime soon, Xbox One owners have been a bit deprived when it comes to fighting games. Some owners have been particularly deprived of fighting games that are fun to play with friends and family.

The recently released, Mortal Kombat X has been critically acclaimed but is admittedly too violent for younger players. Even Microsoft’s own Killer Instinct is targeted more towards the professional e-sports fighters than casual gamers with its complicated controls.

Today, a new fighting game has launched on Xbox One that may fill this void. BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma EXTEND is a quirky, anime-influenced fighter boasting a cast of 28 playable characters and a variety of game modes and styles to make playing a fighting game less intimidating for gamers of all levels.

Xbox One's fighting game library continues to grow

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma EXTEND features special meters to assist in blocking and attacking and a special mode called, Stylish Mode which makes pulling off combos and special moves easier. The game also features regular modes for those who just want to dive right in. Also, there is a “heart-warming comedic story mode featuring two high school girls” that explores the characters from the main fighting modes in a sort of mini dating sim-esque RPG game.

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma EXTEND is now available in Japan and the USA with other regions expected to follow at a later date. Just yesterday we reported on Tekken 7 coming to Xbox One with some exciting news coming next week regarding its release. Will you be picking up BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma EXTEND or are you waiting for Tekken 7? Maybe you’re happy with Mortal Kombat X and Killer Instinct? Share your thoughts with the WinBeta community in the comments below and let us know which fighting game you prefer and what its best features are.
