NBC Sports app arrives on Windows Phone, what will you watch first?

NBC Sports app arrives on Windows Phone, what will you watch first?

The Super Bowl is now behind us, after the Seahawks delivered a rather resounding win, but the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, as well as March Madness, lie ahead. Let’s face it, for the sports, fan, there is always something going on. Heck, we’re in the middle of the NBA and NHL seasons right now, and other sports are set to kick off soon.

NBC wishes to make sure Windows Phone customers miss none of the action, and the US TV network is launching its app on the mobile platform to ensure that is the case.

Today Microsoft’s Brandon Leblanc announced “with NBC Sports Live Extra, you will able to watch over 1,000 live sports events from NBC, NBC Sports Network and the Golf Channel. This includes major sports events ranging from the NHL Playoff games and Formula One Racing to the Winter Games in Sochi (this includes all 15 sports and all 98 medal events)! You can also view programming schedules, and receive reminder alerts for upcoming events so you don’t miss out on any event”.

It perhaps goes without saying that this app carries along the same tired “authentication to a cable or satellite service subscription” crap that we’ve grown used to, and weary of. Perhaps this will change in the future — Fox Sports just streamed the Super Bowl without this tiresome bother. For now, you’ll have to live with it, though.
