Music and Video apps for Windows 8.1 receive update

Microsoft has rolled out updates to the Music and Video apps for Windows 8.1, adding bug fixes and a few new features.

The Music app now makes it easier to purchase albums and songs you want, and you can even redeem a Microsoft gift card too. You can also start typing while in the app to use the Search feature, truly handy for those looking to find something quickly.

You can also pause and play a track with a single tap from the new always-visible playback controls. The updated Music app also features better Snap support and a “now playing” list visible in the left-hand menu.

You can use the Share charm to share any webpage to the Music app, generating a list of music from that site and making it into a playlist. “Use the Share Charm in Windows 8.1 to share any webpage to Xbox Music – we’ll look for music on it and make you a playlist,” Microsoft stated. We’ve yet to play around with this feature, but it sure does sound promising.

You can also manage what is visible in your Windows music library in the Music app. The app also features improvements to enhance the speed and functionality of the app, along with a new user experience making things easier.

The Video app features an improved layout for TV show extra episodes, as well as iimprovement for portrait mode and high resolution screens. The app also features additional bug fixes.

Thanks to everyone for the tips!
