Mojang has made an unexpected announcement – that it has been working on a new game, and is finally able to introduce it to the world. While it’s called Minecraft: Dungeons, don’t let the name confuse you, it’s an entirely separate game to Minecraft we all know and love. Mojang made the announcement on stage at Minecon Earth 2018:
The Microsoft-owned game development studio has set aside a dedicated team in Stockholm, Sweden, to work on this new game, claiming that it has been a “passion project” for them, inspired through a love for dungeon crawlers. Below is the trailer for Minecraft: Dungeons.
Mojang describes what’s involved in the game:
It’s an all-new action-adventure game inspired by classic dungeon crawlers, where you’ll constantly discover new weapons and items that will help you defeat a ruthless swarm of new-and-nasty mobs. You’ll fight or flee through canyons, swamps and – of course – mines!
The game supports singleplayer as well as multiplayer with up to 4 others.
Minecraft: Dungeons is coming to PC in 2019. Mojang have said that other games are also in the works, to be announced in the future.
