Minecraft Dungeons is getting new content this month in the form of a free update plus a new paid DLC titled Flames of the Nether. Both will be available on all platforms on February 24, and the new DLC will be included for free with the game’s new Season Pass.
First of all, the free update for Minecraft Dungeons will introduce some changes to the Apocalypse Plus difficulty level, plus new procedurally-generated end-game levels called Ancient Hunts. “Surviving these Ancient Hunts and beating the Ancient mobs within is the only way to get top-tier Gilded gear. There’s also a chance to get Gold, a new currency that a newly-arrived Piglin merchant in your camp will find very interesting,” the team explained.
As for the Flames of the Nether DLC, it will add six new missions to the dungeons crawler where players will visit altered versions of familiar biomes, and get the chance to collect new artifacts, weapons, and gear from the Nether’s most dangerous mobs. This DLC will also add two exclusive skins and a new Baby Ghast pet.
Unfortunately, there’s still no news on the cross-saves front. Following the addition of cross-play support in November, Mojang said that the team was “hard at work” on supporting cross-saves, though there was no ETA at the time. Minecraft Dungeons remains one of the rare Microsoft games that doesn’t support Xbox Play Anywhere, and the Xbox and Windows 10 versions are separate. Both are free to play with Xbox Game Pass for Console and PC, but the DLCs need to be purchased separately.
